Hudson River Pre and Post Sandy
I went down to the river (cue Bruce Springsteen) to see how the water looked on Monday afternoon around 4:00 pm. It looked angry:

Life at the Water's Edge II
Today Governor Cuomo said we need to have "a fundamental rethinking of our built environment." It reminded me of an exhibit at MoMA that I wrote about a few years back where architects were asked to re-envision the entire New York Harbor coastline (one of the models is pictured above). Little did any of us know how soon we would need to undertake that activity. As Cuomo said in a press conference yesterday, "Anyone who says there's not a dramatic change in weather patterns, I think is denying reality."
This city needs to make some changes and in a hurry. All we can do at this point is adapt and be prepared. Buckle up, we're in for a bumpy ride.

NYC Power Outage
I went up on the roof to see if I could tell that everything below midtown is out of power. Here's the picture I took tonight.
In this next picture I took during the Super Moon in March 2011 there are a lot more lights on. It's definitely darker right now. crazy.
I haven't gone downtown yet. Maybe tomorrow night I'll take the bus down and get some pictures.

Hurricane Sandy Rolls Into Harlem
I took a walk around my nabe to see what impact the hurricane had. Here's what I saw. Overall, not too bad.
