After the fireworks tonight, there were a lot of sirens and this NYPD Riverside Park and there was a police boat there too. I'm not sure what they were looking for. I haven't seen anything on the news.

I went to Asbury Park the weekend after Thanksgiving. Most of the town was okay but the beach area was completely fenced off. All the small shops were being cleaned up and renovated.

I went to Asbury Park over the weekend. I'll post some pictures of the storm damage later tonight. It's so hard to believe how much damage that storm did to New York and New Jersey (and many other places I'm not mentioning).

Life at the Water's Edge II

Today Governor Cuomo said we need to have "a fundamental rethinking of our built environment." It reminded me of an exhibit at MoMA that I wrote about a few years back where architects were asked to re-envision the entire New York Harbor coastline (one of the models is pictured above). Little did any of us know how soon we would need to undertake that activity. As Cuomo said in a press conference yesterday, "Anyone who says there's not a dramatic change in weather patterns, I think is denying reality." 

This city needs to make some changes and in a hurry. All we can do at this point is adapt and be prepared. Buckle up, we're in for a bumpy ride.
